Vision Community Action
Oak Park
Journal Endorsements for the Coming Elections
We are endorsing the Vision
Community Action party for the upcoming Oak Park Village Elections. We are doing so
based upon platforms and stands taken by the candidates. We are strongly in
favor of listening to the concerns of residents and their views about the Marion
Street Mall. We believe that a
responsible electorate would
hold all action on the Marion Street action until the voters have spoken. It should be
quite clear that with nearly 2000 voters expressing their objection to
a street being placed within the current mall (online petition and hand signed petitions
included in the figure) should
be tabled until the vote is
counted following the April 17th Village elections. The current
board has the legal right and authority
to take whatever action they
choose, but just as a parent can spank their child when they choose- slapping the voters is not a
respectable choice.
The condition of the Marion Mall
and Lake street is a growing embarrassment and the state of such abuse must weigh on the
powers that be, the powers who sit on the board of the Village.
The clear choice is a choice for
change and that change is clearly the Vision Community Action party. They
will help reduce wasted funds and insure that properties are maintained and that the
people in charge of code enforcement do
their job.
It is important for all voters
to know that if you want a change it is important to vote for a block of residents who will and
can make the changes needed for a town gone wild with condo buildings and property
neglect.
We enthusiastically endorse these fine residents with a noble
direction of change and improvement for all of Oak Park,
not just the wealthy and those with influence and disregard
for property conditions. I would encourage you to examine
the issues and tell your friends about the clear choices, more
of the same, or real improvements.
