Trustee Brock resigns; cites health issues
Village
Trustee Martha Brock has tendered her resignation effective at the end
of January, citing issues related to her personal health for cutting
short her term after 21 months in office.
“While my heart
remains committed to community building work, issues related to my
personal health dictate that I resign my position
as Village Trustee, effective Wednesday, Jan 31,” Brock wrote in her
letter of resignation, which was dated Jan. 18, but not officially
submitted until today.
Village Manager
Tom Barwin called the resignation unfortunate, citing the important
perspective Brock brought to Board deliberations.
“I have a
special fondness for her since she played a major role with the Board
that hired me,” he said. “I wish her all the best and hope she quickly
recovers her good health.”
The
vacancy comes too late to allow Brock’s seat to be on the April ballot,
according to Village legal staff. The Village President must name a
replacement, who then must be approved by a majority of the Village
Board before assuming the remainder of Brock’s term, which runs through
April 2009.
