RIDGE ART ANNOUNCES SHOW THAT WILL FEATURE JOHN UNGER DURING  OAK PARK STREET ART DISTRICTS - WHAT’S BLOOMING ON HARRISON

OAK PARK (May 1, 2007) –  Ridge Art gallery owner Laurie Beasley has announced that she will have a show during the Oak Park Arts District,  What’s Blooming on Harrison (May 18th- 20th, 2007) featuring Michigan artist, John Unger.  The show will be open to the public at Ridge Art on Friday, May 18, 6-10 pm; Saturday, May 19, 12-8 pm; Sunday, May 20, 12-5 pm.

John Unger will bring new sculpture made from recycled metal to Ridge Art, in addition to his “Great Bowl of Fire”.  The “Great Bowl of Fire” is an outdoor fire pit made from recycled steel and hand cut from scrapped propane tank.  The warm rust finish on this unique work of art requires zero maintenance and the quarter inch steel plate insures that the bowl will last for generations in any climate. The heavy steel holds and radiates heat like a wood oven, while the raised bowl allows you to warm your feet beneath it and sit more comfortably without hunching towards the fire.

In addition to John Unger’s works of art, Ridge Art will be showing a variety of paper sculpture made from amate paper, also known as bark paper, from San Pablito in the Sierra Norte in Puebla.  Furthermore; Shirley Hudson’s Wild Blooms, currently shown on all What’s Blooming on Harrison promotional materials, will be on exhibit at Ridge Art throughout the weekend.
