Transportation Commission to hold Madison Street area parking hearings

The Transportation Commission will hold a series of hearings to gather public input on the findings of a recent study of parking in the greater Madison Street/East Avenue area. The hearings will be held at 7 p.m. on April 6, 7 and 13 in Council Chambers at Village Hall, 123 Madison St.

Village staff and members of the Transportation
Commission spent the past several months analyzing parking and transportation conditions in the area bounded by the Eisenhower Expressway, South Boulevard, Ridgeland Avenue and Oak Park Avenue.

Concerns the study team sought to address included commuter parking, parking in commercial districts and near local institutions, special event parking, overnight and 24-hour parking availability, traffic volume and safety, overnight guest parking and administrative and enforcement issues.

Detailed findings of the study will be presented at each of
the public hearings, and public comment taken. For those unable to attend any of the meetings, a presentation of
the  study  findings  also  will  be  posted  online  at www.oak-park.us/news – just look for the link in the article about the meetings.

Anyone unable to attend a meeting, but who would still like to comment, can do so in writing to the Parking Restrictions Coordinator via fax to 708.434.1600, e-mail to tbrown@oak-park.us or U.S. Mail to Oak Park Public
Works Center, 201 South Blvd., Oak Park, IL 60302. The Transportation Commission will use feedback from the
public in any recommendations for changes it makes to the Village Board.

For more information on the hearings call 708.358.5720 or e-mail publicworks@oak-park.us.
