Participants were determined following local and regional competitions
held in cities across the country over the past four months. The
Jr. NBA/ Jr. WNBA Skills Challenge competitions showcased the top boys
and girls in three age brackets – 9 to 10,
11 to 12, and 13 to 14 – from 35 markets. The boy and girl with
the best score from each age bracket in each market in the regional
competitions were ranked nationally against those in the other 34
markets. The top four scorers from each age and gender group were
then selected as the national finalists.
The Jr. NBA/ Jr. WNBA Skills Challenge sponsored by Singulair
is a free program for boys and girls ages 9 to 14 in which they compete
in a time-based, half-court obstacle-course competition that
demonstrates fundamental basketball skills to help promote an active
lifestyle. This season, the number of Skills Challenge participants
doubled to more than 100,000 children throughout the United States and
Canada.
