Democratic Primary winner for the
Lieutenant Governor position Mr. Scott Lee Cohen Has Withdrawn
from the Ticket

Ed VincentCHICAGO - The Democratic nominee for
Illinois' Lieutenant Governor position Mr. Scott Lee Cohen has
dropped his name from the ticket. All of this has just happened,
during the 44th playing of the Super Bowl in Miami.
"For the good of the people of the state of Illinois and the Democratic Party, I will resign," said Scott Lee Cohen during the half time celebration of the Super Bowl. He made the statement at the Chicago Bar where he was watching the game, crying and in front of news cameras.
A lot of controversy appeared when neither the media, or the political parties chose to investigate the backgrounds of folks who might end up on the ticket with them. Mr. Cohen had not been given any real attention because he was not favored or expected to win the race.
He was a total unknown to the political world of Illinois before his winning the race, the race to be on the ballot with the current Governor Pat Quinn.
Cohen had some catchy ads about helping folks (a few) get some jobs with an employer and he is said to have spent about $2,000,000.00 of his own money to get on the ballot.
The money probably came from his cleaning business and pawn shops.
It seems that just about everyone of power and influence in the Illinois Democratic party came knocking on Cohen's door to let him know that he was not an asset to the ticket.
I wonder what deals or threats may have been placed against Mr. Cohen or his businesses that could have helped him in his decision to leave the ticket. Could those in power have made his doing business in Illinois more difficult? Could he be eligible for business from the State with his cleaning business?
The issues from an ugly divorce to charges of physical abuse to females don't work in anyone favor. The lesson learned is that everyone needs to be checked......

Even after the announcement of leaving the ticket there was no news on his website the following day...
“I have no intention of stepping down or stepping aside. When the facts come to light, after my ex-wife and ex-girlfriend speak, the people of Illinois can decide, and I will listen to them directly. I am asking my ex-wife and ex-girlfriend to come forward and to talk with the media. There are questions, and I will provide all answers honestly and openly. I only ask for time to do the interviews. 2005 was a difficult time in my life. I was going through a divorce, and I started running with a fast group. I was in a tumultuous relationship with the woman I was dating. We had a fight, but I never touched her. She called the police, however, she never came to court, and the charges were dismissed. I realized this relationship was not healthy, I ended it, and we parted amicably.”

“I tried to tell everyone about this early on. I wanted to talk about all of these issues, but everyone wrote me off, and said I didn’t have a chance to win. Now that I’m the Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor, the day after the election, there are questions. I am happy to answer any and all questions; I just need time to do so.”
