On Wednesday, during daylight hours River Forest Trustee James Winikates had his home violently burglarized by one or several people. Mr. Winikates is new to his elected postition in River Forest (term Expiration: 5/2013) and has no known enemies.
Trustee James Winikates and his wife are senior citizens and do not currently have an alarm system. His wife would have been home on most days, but on this day was not home and probably lucky for all concerned. Their house is only a little more than a block away from the Trailside Museum.
The neighborhood of Oak and Keystone is a nice area and not used to crime like this. Neighbors have been questioned but at this time no one was seen.
It is felt that this was a random event.
A burgler alarm from Simplisafe is only a couple of hundred dollars and costs as little as $15.00 a month (all my neighbors have them too..)
